PhD. María González García is a co-founder of SNA. She earned her doctorate in Geography from the University of Malaga, and currently combines her work with teaching in an Environmental Education Center of the Government of Cantabria, where she does awareness raising for a more sustainable world to the new generation. Her research at the national and international level is developed on topics of nature conservation, climate change, geomorphology, high mountain, territorial management, environmental education and heritage.

Born in a family of mountain tradition, since childhood she has been a lover and defender of nature. She has made expeditions to some of the main mountain chains in the world (Himalayas, Alps, Pyrenees, New Zealand Alps ..), with several outstanding climbs. Since she went to live in northern Spain years ago, she also discovered the beauty of the sea and surfing, being a fervent lover of the ocean.
