Working with our local partner Mundaka Surf Club, the iconic surf break from the Basque Country, Spain, was officially presented as a Surfing Reserve.

2016. National Surfbreak Protection Program in Puerto Rico
We began setting the protection plan for the main Puerto Rican surfbreaks.
2016. Coordination of a European Union INTERREG project proposal
Atlantic Area for Surfbreaks Conservation and Sustainable Surfing in Europe in 2016.
2017. Formal constitution of the NGO
In May 2017 we formally established Surf & Nature Alliance as a non-profit NGO. Up to that date, the members of our network were working as individuals or under the name of “Time For Waves”.
2017. PICHILEMU – First Surfing Reserve in Chile
In June 20th 2017, the 1st Surfing Reserve in Chile was recognized by public bodies. Surf Reserve included the area of the famous Punta de Lobos and also Infiernillo and La Puntilla, in Pichilemu.
2008. Surfing Reserves in Spain
Started technical assistance to local communities and lobbying public administrations for finding legal protection to the first Surfing Reserves in Europe.
2012. Manifesto for the Protection of the Waves
Publication of our Manifesto with the inspirational values of a global voice for a global problem in the conservation of surfbreaks as natural heritage, and as a socio-economical, sportive and cultural resource.

The area includes El Brusco amazing beachbreaks in Cantabria, Spain.
2016. National Surfbreak Protection Program in Chile
We began our Plan to protect the main Chilean surfbreaks and started with Pichilemu, Cobquequra (Buchupureo), Pullay, and Puertecillo.
2016. LEGAL PROTECTION OF MUNDAKA - 1st legally protected wave in Europe
In November 2016 Mundaka’s Surfing Reserve was officially declared legally protected by public bodies becoming the 1st legally protected epic surfbreak in Europe.
2017. Chilean authorities subscribed our Manifesto for Wave Protection
Chilean local authorities and coastal community representatives from Pichilemu subscribed Manifesto for Wave Protection.
