Javier Cantera is a seasoned professional with a strong track record in promoting ocean literacy, preserving natural and cultural heritage, and developing sustainable and inclusive models. He has served as European Projects Coordinator at the Regional Society for Education, Culture, and Sports of the Government of Cantabria, leading high-impact initiatives such as INCLUSEA and BLUESURFEST, which focus on the inclusion of people with disabilities through surfing. Additionally, he has represented Spain’s Autonomous Communities in the European Commission in the fields of culture and sports, actively participating in committees, working groups, and the EU Council.

With a deep connection to the sea since his childhood in Cantabria, Javier has explored more than 30 countries, taking part in expeditions dedicated to marine conservation and creating surf reserves and protected areas. His first solo trip around the world in 1999, accompanied by his surfboards and guitar, was featured in Surfer Rule magazine. He has also collaborated with renowned figures such as navigator Vital Alsar and has played a key role in launching international events like the Cosmic Children Festival.

In the academic and business sectors, Javier holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Wales, a Master’s in E-Commerce, and postgraduate studies in International Trade. His experience spans business and project internationalization, from participating in European programs such as Horizon and 7PM, focused on marine renewable energy, to leading a skate brand present in 36 countries. At the same time, he has worked as a university lecturer at institutions such as the University of Applied Sciences in Austria and Cesine University Center in Santander, delivering guest lectures at New York University and the University of Coruña, as well as speaking at specialized forums.
