Monumental news for 369 Spanish surfbreaks and those who enjoy them

Approved by Royal Decree, a total of 369 unique surf breaks were included in the state legal instrument for the planning of the Spanish marine space.

A milestone in the European Union and especially in Spain, to advance the conservation of a natural heritage, sporting, socio-economic and cultural resource, as envisaged in our Manifesto for the Protection of Waves for more than a decade.

After great efforts and a long process accompanied in recent years by the Océano Surf Club de Galicia, the work has paid off:

195 surf breaks in the North Atlantic coastline delimitation

40 in the South Atlantic coastline.

50 in the Levantino Balear coastline.

34 in the Estrecho/Alborán coastline.

50 in the Canary Islands coastline.

Our list includes most surf breaks near and far from us, big and small, known and unknown, places of identity, and a source of life for many.

The preservation of the ocean, our surf spaces, and the sustainability towards the places that give us so much for so little requires commitment, culture and direct action.

Join the Alliance and let’s protect what we love!
